Since October, our Emerging Artist in Residence Samantha Walters has been working with our Artistic Director Hope McIntyre as part of the ACI Mentorship program. The program is allowing Sam to continue to develop her skill set as an actor, learn more about other aspects of theatre and support her peers who are also making the transition from training to professional artistic work..
To this end, Sam consulted with her peers and as a result of identified needs has been hard at work coordinating a special series of workshops for emerging theatre artists in Winnipeg. The first in this series is coming up this month!
Facilitated by Tamara Rae Biebrich (Winnipeg Arts Council) and Martine Friesen (Manitoba Arts Council), the Grant Writing Workshop for Emerging Artists will provide extraordinary details and insight into the grant writing process for those who are new to the process.
The Grant Writing Workshop for Emerging Artists takes place on January 22, 2013 at the University of Winnipeg Asper Centre for Theatre and Film (400 Colony Street) in room 2T05. The evening runs from 7-9pm and the workshop is free (but you MUST register). To reserve your spot contact Samantha at samantha.walters@live.com , no later than January 18th.
Plans are in the works for future workshops focusing on audition techniques. You can also see Sam perform at some of our upcoming events, including So You Think You Can Act: Family Ties and our International Women’s Week Cabaret of Monologues: Wild Women.
