Summer has Arrived at Sarasvàti!

You may not know by looking out your window, or even by stepping outside that Winnipeg’s hot summer is almost here, but at Sarasvàti, we’ve got summer going on already.

With the new summer staff hired, Jacqueline Robertson – Production Assistant, and myself, Terryn Shiells – Marketing and Community Outreach Assistant, things are a-go in the office. Right now we are getting ready for FemFest 2011.

In the first week, Jackie and I read all the plays and got an understanding of everything that went on last year. Now, we are on the go, contacting sponsors, creating marketing and advertising plans, getting volunteers, booking auditions, and making schedules. Also, lots and lots of lists.

We also had the Beer College fundraiser which was lots of fun, and was a great opportunity for the two of us to meet the board and Sarasvàti’s many and awesome supporters. I think everyone would agree that it was a great night overall. Sadly, none of us won any prizes, but were happy for the people who did.

Only 109 days until opening night of FemFest 2011: Staging Inspriation. Stay tuned for the announcement of this year’s line-up, it’s really great you won’t want to miss it!

A Fundraiser for Sarasvàti Productions
May 30th 6-9pm
Luxalune Gastropub

William Shakespeare’s father was an official ale taster in Stratford, England – an important and respected job. You can combine your love of theatre and taste for beer at Sarasvàti Productions’ Beer College on Monday, May 30th at Luxalune Gastropub, 734 Osborne St. from 6 to 9 p.m.

In addition to a Beer College, essentially a beer tasting featuring eight beer samples from local brewers, there will be Luxalune’s delicious pizza, raffle prizes and a door prize. All profits from this event will be used to support Sarasvàti Productions’ important artistic work.

“We are excited to be hosting this unique fundraiser,” shares Sarasvàti Productions’ Board President Janet Taylor, “The Beer College is an opportunity for people to have a good time, and enjoy some great food and drink while supporting the on-going artistic work of the company. You could be the lucky door prize winner of two tickets to the opening Thursday evening concert at the Winnipeg Folk Festival!”

Join us for a great evening, great beer and great company! Tickets are $30 and can be purchased by calling 612-1112 or at Luxalune.
